Project:
New scouts headquarters and multi-purpose community centre.
General Information:
7th Sefton East (Melling) Scout Group started in 1959 as the 34th Ormskirk Scout Group. Over the years, the Scout Section has seen 12 Scouts gain the section's top award, namely the Chief Scouts Award. In the Venture Section, two Venture Scouts have gained Scouting's top award.
Clients Needs:
The original prefabricated concrete hall was extended and refurbished on several occasions and has currently come to the end of its useful life. The Scout Group, in consultation with the Parish Council and other local community groups, decided to develop a new multi-purpose facility suitable for the new millennium.
Funding:
The project cost is £340,000 and most of it is funded by the Community Fund.
Completion:
The construction is due for completion in February 2004.
