Projects: 2004-2005

Al Ghazali Multi-Cultural Centre

Former Earle Rd United Reformed Church, Liverpool L7

Service:
Feasibility Study - Building

Project:
To reorganise the former church for the group's requirements including full accessibility.

General Information:
The intention is to add a new floor at high level to maximise the use of the space.
There are numerous floor levels in the church, none close enough to street level to be readily accessible. This proposal (B) places a new staircase at the chancel end, which will eliminate one of the levels and allow a new lift to serve all floors. A new entrance porch at street level, half way between "ground floor" level and basement level can connect to the lift.

Clients Needs:
To re-organise the former church for the group's requirements including full accessibility.

Funding:

Completion:
This arrangement (Proposal B) is the best of several possibilities that have been explored for refurbishing the building. Even so, it is difficult and not fully satisfactory. It may be better to look at a new-build option...
