Projects: 2004-2005

People First

24 Hardman Street, Liverpool, L1 9AX

Service:
Feasibility Study

Project:
To provide an accessible WC and office pantry in Rail House.

General Information:
A generously sized cleaners cupboard needs little extension to provide space for an accessible WC.
Redundant space on the landing provides room for a small office pantry.

Clients Needs:
People First (a self-advocacy group for people who have learning difficulties) has been required to move out of their present premises. They have identified suitable office space in Rail House. The building has good lift access to all floors but only has an accessible WC on the lowest level.
People First regularly work with disabled people, so that level of provision would definitely not be adequate. People First would also like to install a kitchenette for preparing of coffee, etc. This could be shared with other tenants on the same floor.

Funding:
People First are approaching donors to assist them with the move and to enable the alterations.
