Projects: 2005-2006

The Friends of Williamson's Tunnels

Under much of Edge Hill, Liverpool

Service:
Pre-Feasibility

Project:
To prepare a 3D visualisation of the existing tunnels and some possible future developments to explain to funders, planners, etc., what the project is about.

General Information:
Friends of Willamson's Tunnels are researching , exploring and hope eventually to make accessible to the public, the extraordinary underground structures in Edge Hill.
Comtechsa have used their 3D modelling package to make a model of the land-form and outline models of the buildings and structures upon it.
The land-form has been "cut away" to further model the known and suspected tunnels and chambers, both those formed by Joseph Willamson and by the railways.

Clients Needs:
In the nature of things, there is little to see above ground, and it is difficult to show or describe what is underground.
An integrated 3D model of the tunnels and the above-ground strictures should also be helpful in planning the campaigns of clearing and restoration.

Funding:
FoWT hope that the visualisation will help in raising funds for the exploration and restoration.

Completion:
A draft "fly-through" movie was prepared in April 2006. The model will probably develop over several months or years, and updated images and movies will be issued from time to time.
