Projects: 2005-2006

Halton Disability Service

Halton Lea Shopping Centre, Runcorn

Service:
Feasibility Study - Building

Project:
HDS currently runs a Shopmobility Service in Halton Lea, but the landlords cannot continue the rent-free status for their current premises. They have, however offered an adjacent larger space, subject to a satisfactory scheme being devised (and subject to suitable support funding from the Borough Council).

General Information:
The space on offer is a corridor and some store rooms, not suitable as retail space. Our scheme proposes that the corridor is the parking space for the buggies, and leads to a suite of rooms at the rear leading off a central space which can be used as a training area.

Clients Needs:
The Shopmobility Service offers low-cost/free use of electric buggies around Halton Lea, and parking/servicing space is needed.
Further space is also needed for a "comfort room" with more specialist facilities than a regular "disabled toilet" (suitable for sorting out catheter problems etc).
Space is also needed for Administration and for Training.

Funding:
The project has been funded by the Group's own resources and the Wavertree Society. Project cost £ 15,000.

Completion:
Completion Date: March 2006.
