Projects: 2005-2006

Refugee Action

64 Mount Pleasant, Liverpool L3 5SD

Service:
Feasibility

Project:
To design an access ramp to the front door.

General Information:
The building is a listed Georgian town house, which was once the city's Registry Office (John Lennon was first married here) and is in a sensitive Conservation Area.

Clients Needs:
The building has been reorganised internally under a previous piece of work by Comtechsa. That has provided for internal wheelchairs to manoeuvre around the ground floor, but budget limits prevented the installation of an external ramp.
The feasibility study has explored a variety of different geometries and materials for the ramp.

Funding:
Refugee Action have very limited funds to modify the premises for their use. The stone and wrought iron, which may be preferred by the planners, may prove just too expensive. Off the shelf ramp products have also been explored.

Completion:
The feasibility study is ongoing.
