Project:
Proposed new Somali Community Centre in Liverpool.

General Information:
The Somali Community is a long established BME Group. It has been expanding rapidly and is currently estimated to be in the region of 7,000 individuals.
There are four main Somali groups, each has its own history, membership, leadership and community structure.
A recent community consultation survey identifies the willingness of the groups to provide their services from one centre if it is designed to suit their cultural and social needs.

Clients Needs:
The Somali Community Services are currently provided from several different centres, none of which are considered suitable due to either health, safety and/or environmental reasons.
Funding:
To be sought from the Big Lottery Fund, Liverpool City Council and its partners. Estimated Project Cost: £1.5 million.
Completion:
Target Date: To be agreed with funding bodies.
