Service:
Full Technical (Building)
Project:
General improvement works and adaptation of existing Youth Centre to help meet the requirements of the disabled, together with a new main feature entrance and improved internal layout at Hale Youth Centre.

General Information:
The Centre is housed in a Grade II listed building (previously a church hall) which has been extended using inappropriate modern materials. At present the Youth Centre is run on a voluntary basis 2 to 3 times a week, but funding is being sought for a paid Youth Worker and part time Manager/Development Worker Although recognised as a village, the residents of Hale Village has grown rapidly over the last decade together with its youth population.
Clients Needs:
The Youth Centre has recently found favour again with the local youths, after a long period in which it was rarely used, and are now full of enthusiasm towards bringing the building back to a good state of repair and regular use. Although the Building is limited in its size, the ever increasing growing number of youths in the village are in need of a place of their own.
Due to limited size there are no plans for a 5-a-side pitch or gym (although several all weather football pitches are proposed elsewhere in the village) but there will be a large multi-purpose hall, large kitchen and meeting room.

Funding:
The construction works have been estimated to be in the region of £300,000.
Completion:
Proposed plans have been drawn up together with elevation, and a breakdown of the estimated cost. Full Planning and Listed Building Consent applications have been submitted. A decision is expected in October 2006.
